4k conversions..... grrrrrr
4k conversions..... grrrrrr
My lwb has one For those who don't know the motor/box combo is a fair bit longer than the zook stuff and in the bad old days they just ran a REALLY short jackshaft
After recently swapping the transfer for another one I cannot get the jackshaft to line up, creating noise on deceleration and anyhere over 60k It'll flog the uni in there quite quickly I'd say too. The uni is new so that's not the prob. I'll soon be doing an engine conversion but I need to get it up the coast to do it
Anyone have tips on how to line it up You can guess how fun trial and error is

Having played with this problem I can feel your pain, having said that, I don't know of a 'easy' cure, just need to shim both the trans, and more importantly, the transfer till its correct. It won't take too much adjustment, but very fidly and agrivating none the less.

Well that was reasonably painless actually Took the f + r shafts off so it could spin freely and played with it till it lined up. Took about 45 mins.
Haven't had the chance to take it for a run yet cause my shafts are farked and I need new ones But no shafts, 5th gear 100k in the driveway all is pretty good
Problem now is that it's spitting oil from the gearbox end of the jackshaft A mist but still a fair bit
Any ideas why A seal
It could well also have too much oil in it cause my brother filled it last time (2 weeks ago). He says he pulled the shifter out and filled it to the very top Would this be causing the oil mist/ spray

my 1.3 g box only takes 1.0 litres of oil.
If your brother is not joking, then yes it has way tooooo much oil in it. This is not good at all, drain it till its just below the filler hole, or put exact amount of oil thru the g stick (thats what I do as my filler won't come off)
excess oil can build up pressure and pop seals etc.
check with somebody the right amount fer yours.

Yeah it has me a bit worried Capacity is 2.45 litres. Can't find the filler hole though Anyone know where that might be on a k50 box. I've searched the net and all I can find is that it's on the side
