roof rack!!!

Post by camo »

i am designing a roof rack of my short wheel base soft top zook
and am looking for any comments or surgestions. things u would of changed that sort of thing...

before u jump on my back about centre of gravity and all that it will not have more than 100kg on top most of the time maybe 25kg just some swags and a couple of bags of cloths will give me the room to put tyres, fuel, water and food and recovery gear in the back area this is for longer trips away which i have planned

any helpful hints will be greatfully accepted :D

( i am copying the calmini roof rack but making it in 25mm X 25mm X 2.5m galvinised rhs)

How'd you go with the roof rack (if you're still part of the forum..., this is an old post...)

No worries, thanks mate. Just trying to get ideas for mine - it's only for a surfboard so doesn't have to be overly big (like the basket style)... I've got a couple of ideas, will start a new thread once I've done it.

Will prob make a roof rail over the targa bar and one coming off the spare tyre mount... if that makes sense.

If all you're carrying is a surfboard that would work pretty well.

Thought so, I saw a feroza deriving around with a rail mounted on a vertical upright coming off the spare tyre mount; obvously with bracing as there would only be one vertical support.

As for the other one, I thought that I'd basically bolt a support onto the sides of the targa bar and have a rail going from those two... will post pics once I've pulled out my finger (now that I'm on uni holidays as of this weekend, I should get time to do it in the next two weeks)

If anyone has any other ideas, please put them forward,

Nick

Cheers mate, Haven't seen that top one before, it must be the hardtop version of the calmini one?

I'm more looking at just a couple of bars as opposed to a full basket style rack, but thanks anyway...
