Adding a Tacho?
Adding a Tacho?
Just wondering if anyone knows what would be involved in hooking up a tacho to Heathers 84 1.0L zook?
Never done anything like that before so any info would be appreciated

Pretty easy, most tacho's have the same wire colours so I'll go with that
Red, Ignition power goes to 12volt side of ballast resistor(The side that doesn't connect to the coil
Green, Signal pickup, Goes to the negative terminal of the coil.
Black, Earth, hook to good earth
White, illumination, On an early zook that's Red/Blue under the dash

Hi Ferwoaza,
I'm not sure about what an aftermarket tacho is going to cost but you may want to consider doing what i did which was to buy from a wrecker a JX instrument board (dash board)...
It's totally a plug and play event, just unplug the old one, plug in the new one and then plug in a plug that comes out of the coil to another plug that sits next to the coil... once i worked out what i was trying to do it was literally a few minutes work (i.e. most of it was head scratching time trying to read a wiring diagram)...
And that way you won't have a massive tacho sitting on top of your dash board - i.e. it will look nice and stock.
cheers mate,
Greg
