Ya probly right, I'm just a little irritated, as it's an import thats only been in less than 2yrs :(
whatever I do will have to be cheaper this time, that hurts too much.
probably get a 2nd hand swift/barina cheap

Well it’s not unusual for a grey import to die anyway is it? Maybe you could rebuild it your self. Is it just the rings that have worn out?

the 4k uses a holden trimatic as standard, you will need to cut floor/tunnel a little for it to fit.....
Anyhow, all fine, if you need it let me know and I'll dig it out.

thanks, mate.
I think the trimatic is used on the early vits, too, and they seem to have a good rep. I have a BL, so maybe tunnel won't be a big issue.?
If I go this way, I know it could be a bit of work to fit, but I suppose parts, motors, whole cars etc are much cheaper to get hold of....but they are getting rather oldish...so am I, but still got a bit of use left in me

I've been told the no.3 has a valve prob tendency on 1.3's ...but on mine its no1 and n04 oiling up.
I'm going to run thicker oil, for older/worn motors, as I've been told by a few mechos that what I'm using is too thin, and is made for more complex newer engines. (smokin did start when I changed my brand)
And my spark plugs are way past their best, so they having trouble burning up the oil from most likely worn oil rings.
There doesn't appear to be any big end/little end noises.
So a new filter, new oil, new plugs, new dizzy cap and rotor button, hope fer the best and that will give me thinking/planning time to decide whats to do in the future (after adventure tour).
Worth a try.

Look at it this way, if you going to buy all that new stuff you've already made an indent into a rebuild.
If you do it yourself you know it's one right.
After all you can make the lil 1.3L a lil tougher than a carby vit motor for less (or maybe the same cost but then you don't have to worry about the vit motor dying all to soon)
My suggestion,
-Gti pistons (Refabed maybe? 10:1 compression)
- 8v EFi (hello Mud4b)
-1.6l Exhaust Valves (you got extractors right?)
-Maybe a lil port polishing (from what i've seen in various DIY this seem realitively simple with a rotary tool, just some light work, could send you scans of the article)
That's just my though but i am a Purist , Pure suzuki. toyata and nissan components to me smell of heresy

if the plugs are oiling up it could just be your valve stem seals (does it smoke more going down hill?)
there easy to do except you need to either remove the head or the engine so you can remove your cam to remove the valve springs .
the bad thing with letting it develop more is all that oil in the bores turns to carbon which will chop out your rings rather fast and won't do your bearings much good either.

if its worth doing do it intensly , better still do it with MADPASSION

normally I'd think the same, yes its worse going down hill under engine brake...but it don't smoke at all at cold start up, or after a long idle.
I have changed valve guide seals in my old 1300, but it failed to help. It can be done with head on, but its not easy.
If I was going to pull head off, I would want to do it all, as part fixing engines has never been successful for me so far..rather put entire engines in..
my last drive this arvo didnt smoke much at all...its all a little odd...
Am going to keep it alive, until I decide wether to do an engine swap or not. christover

Peter.
thanx Pete, will do.
I realised its way overdue for some new oil and plugs, etc. I think that'll go a long way to a solution. All else seems ok, no horrible noises.
PS. Cypress Hill, AKA Cheezy's Hill is now a lot more extreme.
Its well worthy of AT05 in my opinion.

I put some thicker oil in, penrite 50. I changed the oil filter.
Good news, the smoke is nearly gone. Only does it when I give it a boot full after long engine braking.
Its now driveable and reliable, I think, until I can whack another 1.3 in.
thanx all for advice.
