Indicator fuse keeps blowing

Post by jabtronic »

Hey guys I need help with this urgently. Just need a response in this thread.. or just reply here.

recently the 10A fuse for my indicators keeps blowing. I've tried tracing the wiring as far back as I could but can't spot any shorts/cuts etc. I've tried disconnecting the plugs for all indicators and it still blows.

A mate of mine recommended that it might be the relay. Just wondering is this most liekly the problem? The first two fuses I went through, the indicators worked for 10 min or so of driving... but after that the fuse was blown as soon as I turned to ON.

Thanks

This happens in my sierra a lot, usualy its a bad earth. My earth wires rattle lose, check them all to see if they are tight (especialy the one under the glovebox and on the firewall, l/h side where the loom comes through from in the car). Goodluck, hope this helps!

Bummer, just went out and bought a $28 flasher relay only to find it's not the cause of the problem. Anyone want a cheap flasher relay? :D

I've checked out most of the ground points so far, it's still blowing fuses but I've got a few more points I need to clean up/sand back.

Is it when the engine is going or not or both? Try a mulitmeter over the fuse to see what is happening.

cheers

Nope, engine off... as soon as I turn the key to ON it blows the fuse.

Multimeter showed that there is 12V running through the fuse holder (when the car is off but key switched to ON)

Hmmm. How about as you turn the key on. Have you traced any of the wires before the fuse. Could be a spike causing the blowing.

cheers
