Drop Shackles

Post by camskizook »

Is anybody here running or has used a drop shackle, primarily that is pinned up on road? I'm just wondering about how effective they would be on a zook. I was keen to watch them in action on Kermit at TTC but he kept braking stuff so i couldnt really get to see them. I would be using them in a SPOA configuration. I dont want to hear about them being illegal etc either..

One of the guys in the club has them - can't remember who, it's been a while since I've seen the car at any of the meetings - but from what I've heard they go really well.

Cam drop shackles are a good way of getting more flex but just be carefull with sprung over axles that you don't get too much axle rap and snap the pinion or tailshaft.I would recommend them for the front as trucks that i have seen them on the front loose steering acuracy as if you watch carefully the diff actually move sideways up to 3 inches.
Just my 2 cent worth.

ps I will get up there soon to go wheeling hopefully with the new Zook though.

Dino from metrocheck (climax shackles) saw my post and invited me to come around to watch them in action on his zook. I would like to thank dino for spending a few hours with me and donating his valuable time explaining to me how they work. I would also like to thank alan duncan (kermit) for taking me for a drive to show me them in action in as well.
From what i have seen they work brilliantly, and because they pin up, it is very simple to either have them in action or not.

My mind is very much made up about their effectiveness. Any queries contact Dino and he would be more then happy to help you.

PS...Sam i am holding you to that...there are a few track up shuggy that we would like to show you!

drop shackles

I was thinking of putting a set of these on my high top drover on the rear, but what do you do to the front to give the front a chance to catch up with the back.

cheers
