Thermos????? GQ 4.2TD
I have a GQ 4.2TD....get a little hot on hot days when working hard like in the sand, and high revs low speed in rough terrein, nothing unexpected and not real hot, but would be more comfortable with a thermo or 2.
The Q is will one 9" thermo from repco etc do the trick, or should I look at 2 or see how I go with the one first?? or NFI
Cheers

I can't remember off the top of my head if the radiator in the GQ's are the same dimensions as the GU but I've gone with twin 16in puller spal thermo's, they cost me $150 each and the best part is they are water and dust proof. I just got the custome fan shroud back today so I'll post a pic of it tomorrow for ya. It also cost me $150 to get made to order.

$129 but prollr get them cheaper if I look
I think the GU is bigger, but seems to be more room in the GQ to fit stuff in front, mind you I allready got a intercooler etc on the GU so could be just mind tricks

They're made out of 1.5mm sheet with some angle to brace the middle and the ends are folded to add strength. In the pics it's mounted to the factory GU radiator which has 2 verticle lugs on the bottom that slot into holes and 3 screws / small bolts allong the top. The original was much bulkier and would have flowed much better but with the new PWR alloy radiator I only have 85mm between the radiator and the pulleys for the belts so I had to put the biggest fans I could find and make it as slimline as possible. To clean it will be easy cause I can just undo the bolts at the top and push it back against the motor to get in behind it. It takes about 5 min to pull it out completely. I'll take pics of it in the truck once they're installed. I'm also have an isolation switch in the cab for deep water.

my gq does the same in heavy sand or high rev work
im thinking of putting twin thermos on the frontside of my radiator in front of the aircon radiator. i also run twin spottie on the bullbar in front of the grill(4.2 turbo gq)i will still have the clutch fan running. will this work ok or will i have airflow problems at 100kph?

Some people have gone for the twin AU Falcon setup.
Got a price last week from a guy here in Sydney for $250 brand new and he said he would throw in the thermostat for free.
The only thing that concerns me as they don't look terribly waterproof.
They would probably take a hit with a hose but am unsure if the would swim very well.
Am thinking about something like a pair of Davies Craig fans. Was wondering how well they would work without a shroud to keep it easy for cleaning.
Anyone know how a pair pair of electric fans (no shroud) versus a single standard mechanical clutch fan with a shroud compare performance wise.

Chook
The hardest thing about mine was fawkin out the $150 for each water/dust proof 16in fan and another $150 for the shroud to be custom made. The only thing I've heard muddies is that with both you can create an air lock if the pusher thermo fans run more air than your clutch fan and can create an eddy effect around the radiator and hence no cool airflow through the fins.
