Incorrect fuel guage in lux

Just picked up a 92 d/cab 2.8d lux, and the fuel guage is out.

When it shows empty, i fill it and only 20L's of fuel goes in.....

Im presuming its just the sender in the fuel tank, anyone else had this problem, is it a hard item to replace?

hey my fuel guage used to work fine then i noticed when i filled up completly the guage was a quater lower than full. Is this hard to fix?? it doesn't bother me to much but I wouldn't mind fixing it to.

Same here, ran out with supposedly 1/4 tank left. Lucky to have a jerry on the back and a bottle of injector cleaner, I was in the middle of nowhere.

So got it "fixed"... apparently an electrical short...but same problem returned immediately.

Took it back again and afterwards it would get to 1/8 tank left = empty. Can't be bothered trying to fix it further, at least I know where empty is now.

But then wheeling last w/e it was playing up again, but maybe it was just the angles I was on during the day. I'm keeping an eye on it.

Seems to be a tricky thing to fix if after two goes its still not right.

well I'm pretty sure mines mechanical not electrical because if I get out and rock my hilux I can hear a banging noise coming from the fuel tank. Like somethings loose and swinging back and forward. Dunno what it is but If i shake the lux faster it bangs faster etc. any ideas..

that just sounds like your fuel tank sender, the unit sits down inside the tank, maybe its bent and banging on the side.

im gonna hop under mine on the weekend and take a better look
