Rancho's on GQ 4" Lift
Hey Guys,
Need some advice...
A mate of mine is upgrading from a 2" lift to 4"..
He really wanted Rancho shocks, but the shop that is doing them is telling him that the are very dangerous because of the bore size. (Not being big enough, Rancho only having 35mm bore, and others having 50mm)
On top of that they are telling him he will have to replace all the rear trailing ares because they will bend.
This just doesnt sound right to me.
Any comments appreciated.
Thanks

I had Ranchos on my swb gq for over 4 years without a problem. short streches of corrogated roads without problem. long steches may be different. And i have never bent a control arm but i have seen it done on a couple of gqs
Short GQ, Petrol, Turbo.

My GQ with a 5" lift has been running Ranchos for about 4 or 5 years including several trips to the centre. Having planned the trips, I didn't need to spend hours on corrugated roads at 110+kph. Consequently mine have done 100,000k's without problems.
I've bent several rear lower control arms (reinforced standard & Wizard). I now carry a spare when I'm crawling, alongside my spare CV's.

woop has them on a 6inch lift.
Dont know how people had such a good run out of rancho 9000's my first set lasted only a few weeks of driving.
second set a few months,
3rd set didnt get a chance to totally die (although the rears were gawn), they were fucked off and got OME LTR's.
Daddy is now happy

Ranchos will be fine, had a set on the mav for 4 years, still work like new. Yep rear arms will bend, depends how you wanna drive though. Standard ones will be fine though for years, again depends how you drive. I've kept standard ones alive for years, but now they are looking a bit sad with dents and slight bend...
Built, not bought.
