Transfer case Qusetions

Post by S.W.B.Inc »

ok, i have tried search but to no avail.

I have a mate who has bought an 84 4door jeep (360 and auto) after a run at lithgow the other day i noticed that even in low range he was not always getting traction front and rear. I assume that the trf case is not locking in low range properly.

Question, how does the centre lock up (Vacum or cable) and is there a manual locking option.

thanks for the help
Pierce

It will prolly have a quadtrac.. which is vacuum operated.. Pull the hoses of one at a time.. and see if it sucks to your finger. Else.. it could be the chain slipping/stretched.

Hope this helps!
