History of these Ferozas on Carpoint

Post by Clint »

My brother is looking at buying a feroza and he has his eye on a few at carpoint.
Does anyone know the history of either of these vehicles.

This first one is a blue 1994 DAIHATSU FEROZA SX11 in Windsor NSW and has had and new import engine fitted. 165000kms $8000

http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/DesktopDefault.aspx?UsedCarID=523862&TabID=3328&Alias=carpointau

The other one is a white 1992 DAIHATSU FEROZA DX in Brisbane.
By brother has seen it and says it's in pretty good nick, but no A/C or power steer. 164000kms $7500

http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/DesktopDefault.aspx?UsedCarID=643378&TabID=3328&Alias=carpointau

If ya know any of these vehicles can ya let me know what they are like and the history of em, thanks.

He's looking at the two extremes of the range there- bottom of the range narrow track (no power steer, plain vinyl interior) vs wide track with probably a velour interior, power steer, electric windows, mirrors....

The DX seems way over priced to me...

I bought mine a couple of months ago, near identical to the white one your bro is looking at but mine cost $4300. I'd say go for the blue one for sure ;) And yeah I agree Dave, the DX is overpriced.

I xcant seem to be able to vote on the poll but the blue rig in NSW seems to be the way to go as stated above.

Second hand vehicles in Qld always cost more - dont ask me why though.

Hello everyone!!!
Newbie to this site.
I recently bought my Feroza 1992 DX model for $3000. Car is in good condition, A1 condition mechanically, body is good just a few small dents here and there and it has only done 133000 clicks dudes. . .cant complain about that.
Only thing I like didnt like is not having all that damn power options, ie power windows, A/C, and the nice interior, mine is all Vinyl !! plus mine isn't a widetrack. Kinda sux but still luv driving this little tough machine.
Should have done a bit of research when I first bought the car.
Go for the blue one Dude. . .
 :P

They both look stock so can't imagine too much off roading has been done...

Do you gouys have someone in sydney to look over the blue one in person to make sure it's cometically ok?

I'm going out Windsor way on sunday (ie Newnes trip) and could try and have a look at it in the arvo on the way back if you like.

Cheers

I don't know if luke will get the chance to log on before the weekend (busy with new job)

I would think that he would take you up on that offer though mate.
If it's not too much trouble.

I will get hold of him and ask him for sure.

I am curious to know why the engine was changed

No dramas... I'll give 'em a call and drop in to see it.

It has done 165,000 klms so probably lead foot and poor maintainance... mind you Croz's rig only had 84,000 klms when it threw the cranck....

I'll have a gander at it... take pics of any damage or areas of concern and ask the usual questions...

I'll post back on Sunday/Monday

Have a good one all

Cheers

Why are you so concerned about the history. Its got a brand spanking motor in it and its cheap as for only $8 000. My Feroza's an SXP II 1993 and i paid $14 500 2 years ago. I got screwed but i recon that the blue one is a bargain. Unless of course the passenger side is written off or something like that! lol

You should buy mine...

I still want to sell it and have not advertised it cause i'm lazy. You can have mine for $8500. Lifted suspension, body lift, new 31's, CD, exhaust extractors. Save a lot of time and money on mods!

Have a look at my website. There isn't many photos with the new sunrasias and pro comp xterrains.

Not concerned about the history, however i was curious to know why the new engine.

I just thought i would call on the great resource we have here. Many people, all around the country with an offroad interest. Ya never know, the owner or a mate of the owner or a previous owner or a mechanic who has worked on the car etc. , may be a member of outerlimits and know the exact history.

Just thought i would give it a try. Knowing the histroy can take some of the worry out of buying a 2nd hand car.
All comments have helped so far thanks people.

I got a dark green SXPII 12months ago, great car, definetly get the blue one. The wide track is better and for the price, you can't go wrong. Mine cost me $11,600, so $8000 is great, and I so wanted the light blue, couldn't find one when I bought mine. Although mine did only have 98,097kms when I took delivery of it. Now it has over 18,000kms, still going strong. (Now I see thet it isn't for sale any more, try for a widetrack, worth it..)

I think the body lift may be a problem. I think its only 2 inch max here. The suspension shouldnt be a problem, as long as it hasnt been done with extended shackles on the rear.
