If i go to 35's will i have to change the diffs on my gq 4.2 diesel turbo?
I already have 33's on their now.

GQ 4.2 turbo diesel patrol 3" lift 33"muds
Dude I run 35's and my GQ is non-turbo, lost a little power around town I don't find it too bad, but it is noticeable on hill climbs in low range, probably almost lost a gear power wise, if you know what I mean. You should be fine with turbo, depends what you use the car for most, I do heaps of highway k's so I don't mind it myself.
u dont have to do anything
depends what u like
at the start i didnt mind the standard gearing on my 4.2 turbo gu
but in the end am please that i went to 4.6 ratios

I run 35s on the turbo, and they are fine around town, and I love the revs cruisin on the highway.......nice and loooowww.
I definatly want crawlers for offroad, it can get a touch scary on rock steps etc, and I think you are better off with crawlers than ratios

If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!
I was wondering the same thing as I have a TD42 Maverick that I was considering going to 35's on.
Is it totally pointless without a turbo?
Are 33's good enough off road? Mine only runs 31's atm and just drags its diffs everywhere it goes

The hardest thing about owning a jeep is telling your parents you're g a y!!
You are kidding right? 35's no turbo & 4.1's?
Maybe I expect too much from my cars. Mine was SHITHOUSE without a turbo, and thats with 4.3's. After I towed the camper to bathurst with 285's, 4.3's and no turbo I was ready to blow it up. FARK I was shitty, I kid you not.
Great now with a turbo. I thought the petrol was RS with the 4.3's towing and still a bit gutless with the camper with the 35's
35 = 4.3 or 4.6 diffs IMO
Whats exceptable all depends on your own point of view and what you find eceptable (or tolerable for that matter).
Cheers

its a truck drive it like one and you will not be dissapointed. to be honest i didn't notice much with 35's on my tb42 with 3.9's. you only get to use 5th for over 110kph though

Too right........if you try and drive like its a V8 car, you will be dissapointe. get used to preparing for the hill, and changing down frequently, but I am sure you prolly need to do this with the 31s anyway

I don't think so, if I can cure it with a turbo & 4.3's to get it to drive acceptable, then I'll do it.

As for driving it like a v8, even it wasn't such a pain in the arse to do it plus the fuel economy, I'd have one for sure
Doesn't have to be like a truck..............and I'm sure there's plenty of power hungry guys out there that will agree. If not then I'm just impatient.

They look fat

Nah more seriously, my reasons for wanting larger tread:
a) Will change the gearing both so it's slower crawling, and
b) So it does 100km/hour at a lower RPM (4 speed gearbox), and
c) Better ground clearance - at the moment my 100L LP gas tank sits very low (mounted where the factory petrol tank was).
Admitadly,
a) is not really needed because I have low range.
b) is not really needed because it will do 100km/hr easy on 30's, it is just nicer to not have the engine doing 3100rpm if i don't have to.
c) is not really needed because when I fit body/suspension lifts it should fix this problem.
35's would be nice, but I think 33's are probably a better realistic option for me.
Everyone loves a tonka truck though
