I've managed to snap a knuckle stud. I have x over histeer on the old Surf.
Is this common and what can I do to stop it happening again?
Was thinking of drilling and tapping bigger studs or will this weaken the knuckle?
Any ideas would be great.
Cheers Thomas

Snapped a knuckle stud
Where the f#@k did that come from
Its been talk about a few times,I snapped a few studs and stripped a few aswell,I redrilled and tapped for 9/16 UNF and used high ternsile bolts and tacked them together so they don`t come loose and havn`t had a problem

did you make up the double arm out two standard arms?
i've heard that they are proned to snapping the studs
Nah its high steer. What I think happened is that it wiggled loose and me being the negligent bastard that I am failed to notice it until I got back on the road and the steering was shocking. So I tightened the remaining three up and limped home. I can replace the stud with another one but I like this idea so I will do that
