Anyone who does any emergency services vehicle fitouts should have them!
Otherwise, steal one out of a cop car :finger:
Don't steal one out of a fire or ambulance vehicle though, the do valuable work and need them! :armsup:

if you do a lot of night work it might be an idea to have a look at a red one, cop cars use them as it doesn't stuff your night vision as much, wouldn't be hard to make one with those super bright LEDs...

$70....$50....geez....

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 00794&rd=1

Use one of those, and either modify it to suit, or install a USB socket in your dash...only have to connect the power (with a $7 voltage convertor kit from Dick Smith)

http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.store ... View/K3594

That's what i'm doing to my 4b.

This is the one I have in the rear of my GQ. Lights up the whole rear compartment, and good enough in the back seats to read a book.

11W 12VDC PL Fluorescent Cabin Lamp STOCK-CODE: ST3006
Qty 1+ $39.95

Being small and easily installed as a permanent fixture, this fluorescent lamp is great for illuminating the cabin area of a boat, campervan, or in any 12 Volt application.

It uses a single 11 Watt tube and has a 3 Watt night light as a courtesy lamp. The rocker switch offers off, night light on and fluoro on. It is designed to be surface mounted and has bare wires for power input.

* Size: 295(L) x 64(W) x 33(H)mm
* Strong ABS plastic case
* Requires 12v, current draw is 850mA

This is the one Im going to put in the front as a replacement. $49

12VDC 16W 2D PL Round Ceiling Light STOCK-CODE: ST3009
This unit uses the compact fluoro tube called 2D, which is rated at 16 Watts, which would roughly equal an 80 Watt globe. It would be ideal to mount over a table, as it has wide light dispersion. It also has a 3 position switch, with a 3 Watt courtesy light included. This unit is designed for surface mount.

* Size: 230mm Diameter x 65(D)mm
* 12 Volt operation, current draw is 850mA.

I have a brake light setup as my interior map light in the Zuk. It cost me about $5 and it doesn't affect your night vision but is plenty bright to read by

We have ones like those on the trucks at work. They produce good light, but the switch bit at the back keeps on coming of them.

What 4b do you drive? My GQ came with factory map lights. You might be able to find some from a better spec'ed version of yours???
