First up just want to say wat a bute site that you got going hear .
Just wondering if you can bolt a 2.4 turbo out of a gutlux strait up 2 the 4 speed box behind my 2.5 dg motor coz i heard that the 2.4 turbo will bolt up 2 the blizzed box and transfercass but i wozent shure if thay whear the same. If not is thear any deisel motor that has more snot that will

I would believe that you'll have to get the bell housing from the Blizzard in order to get the 2.4D Gutlux engine into your Daihatsu. I am not sure but the exhaust is on the opposite side of the engine. I also suggest, if you have to get a blizzard Bellhousing, try to get to 5-speed box to go with it.

Why not go dl52 , Rocky turbodiesel intercooler??
should be a bolt in conversion I think.

thanks for the help so the blizard was a 5 speed will have 2 get one of thows and with the rockey if i go that parth if i change the whole motor box t case will it all bolt strait up or will i have 2 move mounts and get new tail and front drive shafts

The gearbox and transfercases from the rocky and the scat are basically the same only the shifting mechanisms are different and the gearing is slightly different so the bellhousing should directly bolt on the f50 gearbox. when sticking to the 4sp driveshaft length shouldn't be a problem. for engine mounts I even think they are the same although not sure of that. diff gearing will be shorter which will compensate for larger tires :armsup:

When converting from a 4 to 5 speed gear box, the front and rear drive shaft on a 5speed are different lengths than a 4speed (ie rear driver shaft is shorter on a 5speed). If you cannot get the orginal 5speed g/box drive shafts, you have to get some made up.
The difference between Scat and Rocky 5speed gearbox is mainly the transfer case shift lever. On the Rocky it is straight, while the Scat has a "S" or "Z" bend in order to fit (as the 5speed box is longer than the 4speed). The gear stick is same distance from the front of the gearbox on both 4speed and 5speed.
If you consider the 2.8L DL engine, the F60 have taller gearing the differentials than F50 due to extra torque from the DL. This is due to fact the gearbox ratio due not change between models. Larger tyres will offset this though it might be necessary if you go to a Turbo?

basically there are three versions of the 2.8 dl, the first is the same as the later f60 donk and early rocky. then there's the turbo'ed. from the rocky and the last one is the turbo-intercooled version, I'd stick with the last one (about 100 hp and 250 Nm).

As sweeney said, due to the 5th gear bolted in between the transfer and gearbox the transfer shift lever has a bent in it. Also the gear lever sits about 20 cm more to the rear on the rocky than with the f50. From my knowledge you can swap both the shifting mechanisms from the f50 to the rocky gear/transf er combination so the shifters sit in the same place as before ( no need for chopping the tub) .

source a turbo intercooler donk, 5sp rear ute driveshaft (f25,f55,f65), any 5sp front driveshaft, 5sp gearbox.

use your own transfer and fabricate the s-shape in the lever.

As for prices I'm not sure as over here in Europe prices are relatively high, (saw an 2.8 for 2500 Euros and a 2.0 petrol for 2000 :bad-words: :bad-words: )

In case you have a ute of course else all the diesel 5sp driveshafts will fit :lol: ...(5sp petrol front driveshaft has the same lenght but a smaller diameter.

will the drive shafts out of the rockey do the job if i got ute ones and are the rockeys wider than the scats and if so will the axles go under my truck with out 2 much hasel and did the rockey have disk front

The rear drive shaft from a Rocky trayback might not fit correctly with the F55 without shortening. I think the wheel base on the Rocky trayback are longer (at 2.8m).

I'm getting a bit confused now, because of the daihatsu naming conventions worldwide (over here there has never been a blizzard or scat). I understand you have a ute/trayback f55 (taft pickup over here)??

source the driveshafts from the scat/taft/blizzard from a 5sp model (depending on ute/hardtop version ofcourse). They will bolt to any 5sp gear/transfer combination. For modification shiftlevers, see earlier post.

couple of numbers concerning driveshaft lenghts
(fully compressed)

Rear 512 mm 1189 mm

4sp
Front 618 mm 618 mm
Rear 618 mm 1293 mm

wheelbase of the rocky ute is indeed 100mm longer, so driveshafts are not interchangeable, rocky driveshafts also have the yokes on a different angle (phasing)
