This has probably already been discussed . I'm wondering if any other crown wheel & pinion will fit a GQ rear.

Navara 4.6's fit on the front I think (there navara rears). Also there was something about MQ/K ones, dont know what it was as bolt holes are smaller. I guess they just need to be drilled out. Dont know what ends they will fit either, sorry.
Just remember xterra talking about it.

I heard the same thing about the MQ/K. Didn't know about the Navara.

The GU/GQ rear are 33-spline, correct? If so, I don't think there are any other Nissan H233B diffs used in Australia that are 33-spline. The USA Xterra, Pathfinder (96-04), and Frontier (Navara) have 33-spline H233B rear diffs.

The Australian Navara and Pathfinder rears are 31-spline, as are the GQ/GU front, but the GU/GQ are high-pinion units and you can't swap the gears (well, you can, but at a loss in strength). It's the traction aids that you can swap between them.
MQ/MK rears are also 31-spline and the traction aids interchange as well.

The Navara/Pathfinder R200A front diff will interchange traction aids with the MQ/MK C200 front diff. The USA-spec R200A and C200 (Frontier rear) interchange gears, I would assume the same holds true for the Australian R200A and (MQ/MK) C200 front, but I can't be 100% sure.

Brent would the crown wheel & pinion from a MQ/K rear fit the rear of the GQ ?

Highly unlikely. I know little about the Australian-market H233B gearset evolution, but the US-market swtiched from 10mm ring gear bolts to 12mm in 1986, with just a small number of the 10mm units ever used stateside (just a few months' D21 production) before the change. The MQ has the 10mm ring gear bolts and I'm pretty certain that carried through the entire MQ/MK production, and considering ARB has only one MQ/MK H233B locker available, that would back that assumption up.
So, the MQ/MK rear is 31-spline with 10mm ring gear bolts, while the GQ is 33-spline with 12mm ring gear bolts, which pretty well eliminates the ability to swap the gears even if you were to consider using the MQ 10mm carrier in the GQ.

And of course we haven't even addressed the pinion, which is a wild card all around. In the USA, there are two, if not three different pinion specifications in the H233B rear, and we're only just getting a handle on that. The 5.14:1 gears from Nissan/Nismo are only made to the old spec used until 1990 or so, and one clever distributor has found a way to adapt them to be used in the later third-member/bearing setup and so far has cornered the market on the 5.14:1 ratio here for any US model since 1990. I have no idea what variations might be present in the Australian-spec H233B pinion and third-member/bearing setups, but I've got a few spare later-style USA gear sets that I hope to find an Australian guinea pig to test their compatibility with.
