Hilux f/glass guards

Post by UZJ40 »

am looking at importing some f/glass guards from the States, want to know if any there is any interest in them.

am going to get a set for the LN61 Surf i am knocking around in at the moment, to see what the fit and quality is like.

3 types available are:

84 - 88 hilux/4 runner - approx 3'' flared out, 4'' opened up. this one has a round opening not square like the original gaurd.

89 - 97 hilux - approx 2" flared out, 2'' opened out.

89 - 97 hilux - approx 3" flared out, 2-3'' opened out, the top is flat like the bonnet and opens to a big bulge opening

these apparantly fit straight on and are made of a quality racing f/glass.
am trying to nail down a price at the moment. i imagine they will be around $300 - $350 each, not sure at this stage.

would be interested in them as well, as i think there is a market for them, although the imported ones would have to be cheaper than $300-350 EACH. i got some in from Carryboy (imported from Thailand) and according to them, they were EXACTLY the same as the ones fitted by Toyota factory. complete rubbish. made from plastic, thin as chips, and only attached from inside the guard, so was impossible to keep the gap between flare and fender closed. these sold for $480 a set of 4. TJM also have some available, but by the time they join the rear (same as dual cab hilux) flare, colour code them, they sell for $1200 for 4. rip off.

would be good to see a pic of them if you have them.

Guards

Yeah I'd definately be interested in the 2" flared ones, but like already said, price would obviously play a large part.

I got a set of replacement guards from repco for a 2nd generation. These are steel and look exactly the same as stock. You will have to paint them though.

Hey Guys. There is a company here in NZ that does some figlass parts. I found out about stuff for my first gen hilux so I dont know what is available for your rigs. Front gaurds are 180 each bonnet (without bracing) 200. these are in nz$ and dont include gst (but you would not pay nz gst anyway) I cant remember the company name, I think it is prosell. The email address is stevewhitton@xtra.co.nz . This crowd do quite alot of stuff including tj tubs and even 40series cabs. Hope this is helpful.
