Pros/Cons of 1985 4Runner..

As what topic says..
i found a really nice one, and im going to look at it in the next couple of days.. what are some things i should look out for?
Is the 2.2l a deisel or petrol motor? Can aircon be fitted?
What is low/average/high kms for this year model?

A tip, pay a little bit more when you buy and get a lot more!

Aircon can be plugged in but it will cost you more than buying one with it in. Stuff never fits etc, bits missing and broken, but it is all fun.

Rust, driveline wear and tear, GBox, Diffs, tailshaft Uni's . . .

Those lil engine get pretty tired too, I think exchanges are about $1100 then you have to get it in and running right.

You are looking at an old car, expect suprises, but you will have fun

yeah its got a recon motor in it..
hmm
does it rust anywhere particular?
any things like head gaskets or stuff that are common problems?

when i bought my Lux, i peeled back the vynil floor and checked all the sills for rust or anything bad. check throughly under the car, ie. get on your back under the car and stare up for about 10 minutes looking for anything that looks out of place.

check also too, right right up under the dash in each top corner, rust starts there too, and its a PAIN IN THE A$$ to fix
