I have one.. from ebay.. its a blackrat type hand winch. works well.. came with cable... VERY happy with it.

I think he is referering to the ultra cheap no name winchs that are plauging ebay at the moment.
8-9-10 k winches for 5 hundred, saw a 9 go for 850 the other day I think. They lookk good at the beginning of the auction, then on the last day go up to where you wouldn't bother.
I reckon if you can get a no namer for 500 bucks and only want it for light ocassional use go for it. But what they seem to be going for I would rather have a reputable one. Not that I have ever used a winch, saw one on the front of a car the other day
