After Market Seats in MQ

Post by pongo »

Who has put aftermarket seats in thier MQ?I need to do this as im doing reasonable range touring on weekends. What seats you put in and how much hassle?Im leaning towards early commondore seats.Any suggestions? I dont want to spend a heap on seats either so recaros and saas is out of the question

I have Recaro buckets in mine, just used the standard MQ rails and made a plate to sit in between the seat and the top of the rails.

Also, Nissan Pintara bucket seats are confy and there is little mods needed to fit them up.

On a related note, what do you guys think of the factory suspension seat and what are they worth?

Yea, theyre good and comfy! i think theyre worth a bit tho, ive got them in my shorty which is my daily driver, so needs to be a bit comfy.
In my ute and for hardcore stuff id rather have the fixed ones tho, (like the n15 seats i just bought for it) although you can lock out the suspension action of the suspension seats at different heights, they are also pretty heavy.

I fitted a couple of RX7 buckets - required some jigging of mounts, but are firm and keep you where you need to be. Cost me $150 for the two seats, and another $100 for 'approved' mounting. All done in North Adelaide. However it is a real love/hate thing - I love them, buy my wife hates them because she can't curl her legs under!

Commodore seats raise you too high to the roof lining - I had some in my silver petrol (remember that one Screwy - sweet lookin ride with bling alloys) head used to hit all the time...

You might not be like me but mate.

Thanx for the tip Patroldude,I will bear that in mind. I got rid of my ute and bought a shorty. The seats in that are good enough for me.
