difference between LWB and SWB springs
difference between LWB and SWB springs
have been looking at new springs for the GQ LWB just wondering if the OME SWB springs will suit a LWB or are they different part numbers just curious as i have seen the ironman gear advertised to suit both LWB and SWB.
if they are different part number does anyone have these for the LWB

i didn't think there was any diff they will slide in any one LWB and SWB although if you get a softer spring the LWB might sit a bit lower obviously cause of weight

i gave some to 'screwy' from my lwb and he fitted them to his swb with no probs. as has been said the extra weight may make a difference but i
doubt it will. for the small amount of time it takes to throw the rears in i'd just be fitting them and go from there. to determine the softness/rate of a
spring i'm sure it varies with the wire thickness but am unable to help out with specifics.

I have just fitted 3" lift Dobinson SWB coils to my LWB dual cab, because it is much lighter than a normal LWB, and it seems to be lifted fine.
The Dobinsons sit 3 inches taller than factory GQ coils on the floor and are thicker in diameter, but not a thick as LWB coils.
The ride with EFS Hydraulic shocks is great, still soft like the factory shockers with more travel and only $95 each.

coils closer together at 1 end than the other = progressive rate spring

There are 4 factors that determine the (k) Spring Coefficient of a spring:
- Wire diametre
- Spring Diametre
- Number of coils
- Free Length
k - i dont have my book needed with me (its at work at the mo) but u can calc this with the formula below by adding a certain weight to the spring and measuring how much it compressed. Divide the force (weight x 9.81) by the distance compressed in (mm).... so now U'll get the spring constant...

well guys did the spring chang over last night with some interesting results
the new springs were a smaller wire diameter but out of the car had the same amount of coils so i made the assumption when i put them in the car would sit alittle lower I took measurements before and after ride hight once done was 6mm lower but what confused me was that it was a hell of a beter ride with a lot less body roll.
so after all that the SWB springs are causing me no dramas and i am very happy with the end result from hight and performance
