cages and trays

Post by ORSM45 »

g'day,

im going to be building a internal cage in my cruiser, and a new tube tray. i want to use 50mm (2 inch) overall diameter tube. and was just wondering what size wall thicknesses people think i should use.

what are the required sizes for racing in winch challenges, etc.

thanks.

the material I am using is also commonly known as 40 nominal bore medium pipe....
I think the cams specs call for a minimum of 44mm outside diameter.

yeah 40mm is 1.5 inch

so did you choose that because of CAMS?

it also has to be seamless doesnt it?

Hopefully this table will help you guys out.

Remeber that the "NB" or nominal bore size is different to its inside or outside diamater. they are close, but no cigar. EG a 40NB/1.5"NB pipe is actually 48.3 outside diameter.

The NB size is actually the size of pipe thread that can sucessfully cut into that pipe. EG a 1.5"NB pipe will be able to have a 1.5" pipe thread cut onto the outside of the pipe.
