Now thats just being silly.

Don't bother covering it and that way when you go throught water you'll have a much more accurate way of telling how deep it is. !

I searched a lot on Pirate before cutting as i wasnt sure how it was going to be inside the sill area but its going to be easy to patch it all back up. 4RnrRick had about the best pics i found.

This is before cutting with the firewall marked out. I ended up cutting a little more than this after fitting the guard. With these guards i will be able to trim another inch from the bottom of the guard to gain a little more clearance if needed.

These guards will hopefully be in full production in the next 2 weeks. I will keep all you guys up to date as soon as they are available.
Cost will be around $250 per side. And they are so far only to suit a generation 2 hilux or 4runner.

You may want to point out, (if I am correct) that you cant fit your original snorkel to them...

can you get away with putting your diff back to original position with these cutouts ?

Only if you have one.
But you are right they wont suite any of the off the shelf snorkles.
But custom stainless ones should be easily worked around.

Why would i want to move the diff back? That would also then affect my approach angle. But if you didnt want to move the diff forward but wanted to run bigger tyres then yes you could use this mod. As it is my front diff is farward approx 5" and the 38.5s still rub real bad on full compresion.

I could run clear perspex over this but i dont think it would be worth it the hole isnt realy big enough and from the drivers side you would not see much of the tyre. I also still plan on driving this on the street.

I see. I know its early days, but could a model be made to accomodate the snorkel.

I may be alone, but I ove the guardsm but want to run my safari snorkel.
It would mean a different mold, and snorkels differ, but it could be done yes.

Maybe by dropping the height of the arch a little, and creating a flat section for the snorkel to fit. So the snorkel is kinda enveloped by the guard.
