MK Patrol SWB Petrol TURBO is finally in and running

Post by mrnizmo »

Hi all, as a few of the members already know, i have turboed my MK shorty.

All that is left to do is the 3" Exhaust System and get it dynoed.

I will take pics in the next few days to show everyone what it all looks like and how it goes.

Cheers

Sweet!

Really looking forward to these pics, I am seriously considering supercharging my L28.

A mate did the maths for me, and the 4agze blower running at 2:1 pulley (ie, the blower is turning 2x the RPM for every engine RPM), a "factory" L28 would punch out about 180hp at the flywheel.

A good 60hp gain over standard, not stressing the supercharger, and should be very easy to plumb it in in a suck through setup, using a carby still, so no aftermarket computer management needed.

Plus the patrol's engine bay is rediculously huge, will fit it in there easy.
God of Magnificant Ideas!

My engine bay looks bigger with the V8 fitted than it ever did with the L28 there.

They are so big I reckon you could smuggle midgets across the border in an MQ engine bay :)

There is good money in smuggling midgets into Victoria - Kingy likes to use em for work shop slaves don't ya! ;)

Did you use injection on the turbo set up or just a draw thru system?

I hope you put in a rising rate regulator for the fuel too or you will soon starve her under boost.

Foad - Get teh charger of a toyota crown - electrically operated hence turn it on flick of a switch! Power when you want and economy when you need it...

4agze also has the electric clutch :)

The other thing is, (at least from what I've read) - with a suck through carby setup, the car is still pretty economical, it's only if you plant it hard will it suck the petty through.

But that said, it's still something I will only look at doing later this year - you've seen my list :D
