SHOCK BRAND: Fron Rancho 9000 99143 10", Rear Bilstein 6100 360/80
SHOCK LENGTH/TRAVEL: 10"
COIL BRAND: Lovells 230lb/in & 300-340lb/in
LIFT: 4"
HAPPY FACTOR: 8/10. More travel would be nice, thats about it though.

And any extra info or storie's:
Well there was this one time at band camp....... More travel would be nice, but the restriction is not due to the coils or shocks.... it's the mechanics and design of the suspension in the Disco2. A great touring / play compromise though. Bilsteins are sensational, Ranchos are very ordinary, Lovells are excellent, lift is outstanding, traction is really good, though big bumps stuff the front end right up.
Cheers

On the 83 Rangie, I run Old Man Emu shocks ('bout 550mm ext.) all round and springs of unknown origin with a 2 inch lift. I was going to fit Pro-Comps but they had none in stiock at the time and I needed them pertty much straight away.

To date I have been off-road three times since I bought the shocks and they have performed well all-round. The springs are only rated at 220 lb and are a bit firmer than stock but not rock hard like king springs :!: :!:

Out of 10 I would give it an 8. The downside of the OME shocks is that they only come with urethene bushes (easily solved with rubber) and they tend to be a bit hard riding (I have been told that they soften up over time, we'll wait and see).

Overall they work well.

suspension

Although I have yet to drive the beast after its diesel conversion, the rangie spares springs and +2" DeCarbon shocks should feel great.
(The above is fitted to a RR classic 1992 model.)
I have fitted plenty of DeCarbon shocks to LR products, and found them to be excellent.
Ditto Rangie spares springs.

I expect my 'pleasure factor' to be pretty close to 10, after all the thought and planning that went into it! There will be a full report after the vehicle is on the road, shortly. Maybe some pics, too.

'92 Rangie Sherwood/turbo intercooled isuzu4BD1 /ACE/ full leather/2.5" exh/2.5" body lift/DeCarbon shocks/LR tanks/LT95 back in and OK now, Sals conversion soon...

1986 RR.

Front coils: 180lb x 17.2 inches orange Les richmond Auto.
Rear Coils : 270 lb x 17.8 inches white green Les Richmond autos.

Shocks was Bilstein now some crap brand while redesign shock mounts to take billstien 12 stroke shocks.

springs with Bils 10/10 . never had fade issues.
Springs with crap shock (10 inchstroke) 5/10 they fade very fast, and donot control the car as well.

93 Disco 200 Tdi - approx. 2" lift

Front :
springs - stretched lovell rears ~ 220 lb 18" free length
shocks - monroe gas 10" travel

Rear :
springs - Rangie spares 270 lb with 2" spacer and polyairs (springs retained top and btm)
shocks - Ridepro gas 8" travel with 3" spacer

This is one heavy car with steel bb and winch, kaymar rear bar with wheel carrier, sill tanks.

I am planning to go to dual rear shocks for outback touring as they really take a beating.

Score :

Touring 5/10
Local 4wding 7/10

94 200tdi Disco / extra weight is from steel ARB bar on front, rear cargo draws. Touring I was also carrying a full lenth steel rack, now I am towing.

Front coils 180lb red Rangie Spares. 2"ish lift
Rear Coils 270lb white/green Rangie Spares. 2"ish lift

Shocks, running OME standard at the moment was running 10" 80 series rancho's on front and 14" with dislocation cones and custom mounts on the rear but was terrible on road.

current setup on road 8/10 rides pretty good can't complain much
current setup off road 6/10 no where near the travel I had with Rancho setup.

Ok to make it clear in my head, when you say OME, is that Old Man Emu or Original Manufactoras Equipment? I have seen it (OME) used for both.

1996 110

front.. OME 10.5 inch travel, slotted bushes
Rear.. custom made Tough dog foam cell 12.5 inch travel shocks with rubber bushes.

springs.. Front.. 180 pound kings 2inch lifted over standard plus 1.5inch coil spacer.

Rear 250 pound kings 2 inch lifted with 1.5 inch spacer.

tot lift approx 3.5 inches not including height on wheels( 34's )

love this setup but am going to run 14 inch rears very soon for a bit more flex down the back end. spring rates are very comfy and offex great flex while still not being to flexy. i carry a constant load of approx 250-300KG

8/10.

Drew.

Not really going to help...BUT

SHOCK BRAND: Current: rancho front (crap, keep adjusting themselves to soft) and OME rear Planned: procomp all round
SHOCK LENGTH/TRAVEL: 10" front 12" rear....plan to go 14" all round
COIL BRAND: Current: Pedders (fronts are 80 series 1.5" lift) rears are 2" RR. Planned: same fronts, 4" rears either Rangie spares or custom jobs.
LIFT: 4"
HAPPY FACTOR: good except not enough travel in the front

extra info or story's:
Putting in a 3 link setup in the front end to get more even travel, will do it over the next 2-3 weeks :)

Front Shocks = Bilstein 10" travel
Rear Shocks = Bilstien 10" travel but they broken :( so unknown atm :D
Springs = 180lb 5.5" lift front and rear
note: Haultech slotted bushes in front radius arms

my opinion - rear shocks where way to short and will be putting in Monroe 15" budget shocks with custom mounts (upper and lower), springs are to tall need to drop them 2" or maybe only 1", rear trailing arms need to be cranked. out of 10 i am at about a 7 ATM. after i do the above mentioned mods should be about a 9 :D
flexes good but not evenly, stiffer rear springs may help aswell as three linking the front. then i give it a 10.

On my 110 (setup for touring)

Shocks: Bilstein F&R - 8.6" (going by specs on the net - didn't measure myself)
Springs: King Springs - approx 1" lift (fits 33's fine)
Happiness rating: 8/10 for touring (6/10 difficult stuff)

what about the trailing arms, shock mounts & spring retainers ? ? ?
I have/had this setup and the down travel is to much for a standard setup rear trailing arm.
Also you will be loosing the rear springs all the time, retainers are deffinately needed.
