i finally got my mig, so i can start to build(sliders under construction) as i will be running longer rear shocks, i will be raising the rear shock mounts. should i keep them running the same angles as stock and is there any advantage in changing the top mount to a pin insed of eye. if i keep the eye mount can i just cut it off some stock ones and weld it to my set up, just wondering what sort of steel as the mount looks cast. the aftermarket stuff i have seen steps out towards the wheels to clear the rear tub. i have a tray back so this is not a problem but is it better for the shock.

The mounting pin on rangie rear upper shock mounts is not at a good angle. It induces bending stresses in the piston rod of the shock, which can lead to fatigue failure of the rod.
I wouldn't convert the rears to pin mount at the top.It seems to be easier to source eye to eye shocks.
With a tray back you may be better to look at mounting the shocks with a lot less forward tilt at the top.
If you drop the rear springs out and flex the rear axle through the range of travel and check the shock when compessed and extended you should get a better idea of what is happening.

Serge, I used some HT grade 8 bolts, I think 5/8" Diameter, for some 2" lower rear mounts I made for a defender, welded onto a piece of 10mm plate with plenty of amps and a 3.25mm welding rod.
I still have them, undamaged, two vehicles later....
