RAV4 - Lowered :(
I know that RAV's get a bagging pretty well anywhere on these kinds of boards, but personally I kind of like the shape of the older models. Id consider getting hold of an older one and stripping it, changing the suspension, engine, transmission, wheels etc. I think it would be a nice lightweight off roader similar to the Vitaras that seem to have such a strong capability. Of course the RAV's arent a cheap vehicle to simply buy and chop.
I looked through quite a few RAV enthusiast forums to see what people have been doing with them but the overwhelming trend is to lower them instead of lifting them.
Heres a couple of pics that I thought was kind of cool. Not what I would buy for 4WD of course, but a different look at any rate. Thought I would share them as I havent seen anything similar on many sites.

Interesting idea.
Do thet have a seperate chassis?
The pics show some potential, widetrack, flares, wide rims, all handy for the offroader.
What do you intend doing to it to make it offroadable? I know the 2.0 litre is pretty gutless and they are only single range with inderpendant all round.

At the moment its more just an idea in my head. Basically I like the shape of the body. Id gut the thing and rebuild it but keep it basic.
Darren Green is building a RAV4 (was at the Melbourne 4x4 show)
He has cut the whole!!!!!!!!! floor out and hand built new one
Put a chassi under it
GQ diffs front and rear
coil overs
Moved fire wall back something like 50mm maybe more then remounted the dash so it is only 10 or 20mm back from standard
Added 100mm to the length of the car through the front end just infront of the windscreen
Has put in a gen 3 chev (yes it was sitting in it at show, just nothing is hooked up yet) and auto (I think auto anyway)
36 inch simex`s
This thing is going to be one weapon when it is finished

Sounds interesting for sure. Does Darren have a site or has he posted pics anywhere ?
What did you think of it - look nice - or just strange ?
Do you think it would be a capable vehicle ?
