CAM & Head on a TB42?

Post by EricB »

Hi Guys

Just wondering if anyone has played around with CAMs and Head on a TB42?

Would I get any gains from a cam alone or is head work needed?

I havent heard of many people playing around with them.

Cheers

Most cam mods that give you more power do it at higher revs, which is not realy what you want in a 4x4, you could go to a towing cam which will decrease power but increase lower end toruqe, prob not worth the hasel though
turbo deisel LWB, 2inch body, endless air, arb front and rear lockers, 34 JT2s, warn winch, carputer/GPS, working handbreak,

True, probably not worth the effort then.

I gaurantee you there will be a cam that will increase power and torque at all rev ranges more than the stock one. Head work, if done properly, will also give you gains everywhere. It's not a matter of bigger is better for either mod, but how it's done. I'd give it a shot if you plan on taking motor out. No point doing any mods on a tired motor though.
