Extended Brake Lines

Post by Mudzuki »

Well the zook is now up in the air and on 34s

My question is, how crap are your standard brakes with extended lines?

I have far too much pedal travel before the brakes grab, tried bleeding them a few times, and they are a bit better, but i think the booster is on the way out, and the rears are gone too.

Get some braided lines made up. The stock lines are rubber and expand with extra length and the extra effort (pressure) needed to stop the 34's ( remember, you have gone up ~ 28% in size => 28 % worse braking). There is a disc brake conversion for the rear of the zooks that may be worth looking into as well.

My extended brake lines are rubber with a metal spiral around them to keep them in shape and not rubbing on stuff. Work fine, so i would be lookin at other areas of ya brakes. Is the drum adjustent right. They are sposed to auto adjust, but possible this is not happenin or the wheel cylinders are spent.

Pretty sure that the rears are stuffed, as when i first got the car i did have a play in the mud, and didn't bother to clean them out.

At my last service they said that the rears needed attention, will get them to have another look at the next service

Who would want lux diffs anyway
