its me again,
today i was about to start changing oils and give the old beast a service when i noticed the drivers side axel had popped out and the diff oil draining from it.
I have a lokka from 4wd systems in adelaide (will call them monday to see if this is common)
this is the second time this has happened ... wondering in the mean time if anyone else has had this experience ??
maybe frank (god of the pajeros) has some insight on this
the axel seems to slide out about 20mm and becomes sloppy in the axel housing
i have a spare set of axels/cvs from my last pajero - could it be anything to do with a faulty/warn cv ?? allowing it to move out .... or the circlip on the spline of the axel ??
leaving it in pieces until i can come up with some explanation.
cheers again guys.

front drivers side axel pops out after bashing

Hi Corkhead
The little spring clip thing on the end of the axle normally does a good job of keeping the shaft inside the diff - I couldn't pull mine out in the "normal" manner, and ended up taking off the front cover and levering the shafts out.
If yours has come out by itself I'd guess it either wasn't pushed home properly in the first place, or the spring clip is stuffed. And I'm a little surprised that there's room for it to fall out with everything else in place, but I suppose stranger things have happened!
Cheers,
Scott

ok last night i put the new circlip in from mitsi
i must say it was twice the size as the one in there ... so hopefully this will help .. i also used a different CV joint from my scrap heap.
The two CV's felt different when sliding them around. The one that was on my car was very easy to move/turn almost floppy etc ... the other is stiffer and felt more stable if that makes sense.
So maybe the CV was worn too ....
ohwell now i need to find a few holes and see how it holds up !!
