MK V8 conversion (Urgent Help needed)

Post by Morph »

Do you need to shorten the import shaft from a 5 speed gear box.
on a MK patrol, when using a Marks adapter for a 308 trimatic bellhousing adapter, as we have to motor about 5-6mm away from mating completly but it doesnt seem to allow for the final movement.

An answer asap would be greatly appreciated as we are just twidling or thumbs wating on a responce.

Dont know about the marks adaptor setup ..... but ..... The Castlemaine Rodshop requires the input shaft to be shortened by 10mm when doing a V8 replacement of the L28...... The input shaft in the SD33 conversion is too short and as a result the spigot bush has to be made longer in order to pickup the input shaft......

I know that doesnt help but it shows that a "trim" isnt out of the question.
If your dead set certain that its the shaft then grind a few mm off and try again.... if that helps take a couple more till it fits.

Better still ....MEASURE IT ....... then MEASURE IT AGAIN before trimming

Is all cool now, turned out the be that the 5 speed bell housing was made of cast iron not alloy like the 4 speed one that used to be attached to it,
as the cast iron one was thicker the pressure plate wouldn't quite fit.

Cheers for your responses.
