Hi Ian, I really hope they rebuild Stromlo ASAP.
I was wondering about how you were up there during the fires, glad to hear your ok.

I spoke to Greg a few weeks ago and he's pretty sure it is going ahead. They took my advice and are seriously looking at the rear 2.6 locker going into the V6 front the engineers saw the how close it is to fitting straight in.
I think this will speed up the development and make it heaps cheaper for them.
I'm like you just waiting for the official announcement and when they will be available. My front Detroit still ain't ready but thats another story. I'm hoping ARB will officially announce the product soon so I'll ditch the Detroit and hang out for the ARB.
He did say he got a very good response from Paj owners (Oz & internationally) who would buy it so our battle cries were taken seriously :D

Thanks Frank, yes Stromlo is being rebuilt at the moment, it'll take 4/5 years though.

I guess we just wait, BTW did you ever fit the modified low gears to your Pajero??

Not yet Ian, there is a set being cut right now for a Japanese guy and if this works out ok his mate will order 10 sets (runs a 4x4 shop). Interestingly Marks 4x4 Adapters will order 5 sets if that run of 10 goes through (he's been getting a lot of enquiries  ). I will get a set in that big run and some others will be in as well. Could end up being a run of 20+ sets if all goes well, the price will be about the same as any Toyo or Nissan kit at that volume.

Well done!!

maybe we should look at the 3.5l again, if only we could get a transfer case that didnt cost a bomb??

I remember asking around before & couldnt get one for less that $1500!!!

I remember you saying once that it might even be that they are the same gear (even though different Mitsu part num) but its checking thats gonna be the bugger.

cheers

Yes I'm reasonably sure that the low range and input gears will be the same (existing 2.85 gears will fit) but the idler gear is different as it runs in 2 bearings not on a shaft like the 3.0 V6.
The 3.5 t/case is also quite a bit larger than the 3.0 as well but I think it's because of a beefier chain and some other minor details (the majority of internals look the same).
