FJ40 Snorkel Ideas?

Post by 2car »

Just fishin' for some pics and/or ideas for a 40 snorkel. Do Safari or ARB make one? I was thinking 3" PVC pipe and a Safari tip.

TIA

do the whole lot in 3" flex. Use a bit of 3" stainless about 100mm long to join the ram head thingie to the flex, weld a tag onto this to bolt to the windscreen frame. cheap and easy?

Don't use pvc pipe as it will shatter if you hit a tree etc. I have used 3" pipe that a mate cut and welded together and then added an ARB ram

the other thing with PVC is that if you get the right sort of particle sliding along it you can generate a static spark. Not good in an intake. I have seen dodgy dust extraction setups that used PVC in workshops catch alight..

I might end up doing something like yours. ARB want $419 for the FJ4X Safari Snorkel kit

The price is not that bad I personally think. Although you can make your own cheaper.
