Mav had better interior before Patrol, Ford marketing thing.

Diff wheel specs on LWB too.

Mine had lots of "upmarket" differences withit being XLT. You get a few extra options over the Patrol Ti.... stuff like sunroof.

Usually cheaper too.

Mine had factory difflock as well... but I think that only Patrols got the swaybar disconnect.

I would have preffered the factory difflock instead of my "oneside" swaybar disconnect.

I thought they all (Patrols and Mavericks) had a rear LSD if not a diff lock. I know mine have them and they are the basic models (DX)

Mav

They are the same. Look on the windows on the Mav and in the bottom corner you can still see Nissan writen there. As long as the windows have not been replaced

mine tops the lot, it doesn't have a rear LSD (both wheels spin opposite directions though when jacked up) and mine doesnt even have the oil pressure and battery gauge on the dash, and every other GQ/Mav i've seen has, and no sway bar disconnects or anything.

i think's its the most povo model u can get

I have the same on my 89 model, vinyl floor, manual windows, single bench seat rear. No front swaybar.

Idefinately had a LSD and it still worked well at 350,000km, I then fitted a tight front LSD which made the rear look like crap. So I fitted an air locker / disc brake rear end.

I swapped the oil guage & voltmeter from a 3.0litre petrol and the 8000rpm tacho :D

Mav vs GQ

Post by RN »

I tell my mate that his GQ is Jap crap...and my Ford Mav is good old Yankee Iron. I say it to just piss him off.

Anyway it feels better to think that you are driving a Ford especially when you have just watched Battle of Midway or Pearl Harbour.......

GQ vs Mav

Post by RN »

To Snarba...I get the same response from my mate and then we have a beer. I can be cheeky as his is a 3.0 litre GQ and mine is a TB42 Mav.

There is no substitute for cubic inches!!

I love the colour schemes (no seriously, I do) with the red badging. Matches all the accessories, (shoes match the handbag   ) red diffs, grey metallic barwork and roof rack.

Anyone remember the Maverick ads on the telly? Much better than the Nissan ads of the time...

All in all time and competitions have proven the reliability of the GQ variants over the other comparitive makes. ;)
