hi guys. was reading the threads of body lifts and i'm thinking of adding 2 inches to accomodate 33 inch tires. my mk has a sd33t and has a stock 4.37 diff ratio. can my engine/clutch/transmission take the increase strain of the new tires? do i have to regear?
if yopu have the turbo model, you will have enough power to drive them without dramas, but, to retain factory gearing, you could install a set of 4.6 ring and pinions, so it will feel exactly the same as it did on 31" rubber,
you dont "HAVE" to change gearing, but it could be an option, if you feel you lost heaps of power, but i say i wouldnt worry bout it
I was running 35's with that gearing without an issue....the only reason I was going to change to 4.6's was to regain a bit more crawling ability but nothing else....
SD33T and 35's = easy....
do it now.....

to regain factoey gearing as per 31 tyre you would have to go 4.8's on an MK SD33T which has factory 4.3's

Just run the 35's with your 4.3's....
Plenty of people here have......
It would be no different than having 4.6's and running 38 Swamper which many people on here either have or do....
cheers
James
hi james,

G'day mate it makes it hard when everyone has a driffrent answer. I had 4.1's in my ute running 31's. I just changed to 4.6 running 35's and now the old girl reves a little harder so if you put 33's on 4.3. You would shit it in.
