Spring clamps

Post by MKPatrolGuy »

I've been reading that it is a good idea to open up the clamps on my leaf springs to help them flex a bit better (I need all the help I can get). My question is what is the Best/Easiest way to do it?

TIA

doesnt really matter.

i sound like GQ but, i know a guy that got in shit by the rta for having his open so he had to close them back up.
If you cut them you cant bend them back!

DAve , is good idea just to bend them !!
that way , when it flexs , the sprigs can sometimes try to rotate(slightly)
& the bent up tags act as a guide to keep them in place !!!

I agree with moose.

I have tried both ways and had HEEPS of trouble with the springs moving. Nick and ruff will remember this

When bending them open just check that they don`t hit anything. If they do then just cut some of them but leaving them sitting higher then the spring pack.

Dave,

Considered fabbing or even buying revolver shackles? Very simple, safe and give a significant increase in droop without the risks associated with opening up the spring pack clamps.

Opened up the clamps yesterday, and regreased the pack etc, helped a heap. Will wait to see what it does in the long run.

I considered the Revolvers but at over $700 retail for a pair and the fact that a lot of people have bad things to say about them has put me off. And as far as fabbing some myself....lets just say bird crap looks better than my welds...
