Fuel consumption

Post by rocknferoza »

Well I fueled the feroza up today :D
It had done 468km by the trip meter which always gets reset after I fill it up. Plus I have 235/75's on it at the moment so the trip meter would be out by about 5%. So it should've done 491km and I only put 44.6 litres in and that was full 2 the top :finger:
Does anyone know how to convert that 2 litres per 100km's
I did a rough calculation and would be about 9L/100km

litres divided by km's x 100
9.53 l per 100k
That's about what I used to get from my feroza when I had it.

Pretty crap I reckon for a 1.6 litre motor.
I get the same ecconomy out of my 3.8 litre commodore.

I worked out that mine used 9.08L/100km for this last tank
Very good econnomy  especialy for a small engine in a 4WD.
Some stop start and highway cruising :D

me thinks my engine is rootard..... I'm burnign oil like it's a 2 Stroke..
And power is crap.. And when it's not blowing grey smoke, it's blowing black smoke.. So I can't win..

Just praying that the head swap will fix it.. Cause I can't afford a rebuild..

350-400 a tank at best I recon.. + 1-2 litres of oil..

I get around 10 -10.5l /100km (not driving for best economy!) Driving up a steep hill everday kills mine- my other car got 1l/ 100km worse econonmy after moving to this place. It is hard to compare economy as everyone would be driving in differing traffic and road conditions.

Mine did improve about 0.5l /100km after replacing my stuffed oxy sensor.

About the only "tune up" you can do on the Feroza engine is adjust the ignition timing. The EFI should be taking care of the rest.

Could be something like the rear brakes dragging; or a fuel leak somewhere. Mine was leaking fuel in the rear quarter panel (could smell it inside....) and the economy was roughly 1-2 l/100km worse.
