Chipping TD5

Post by Mick G »

Just fitted a remapped ECU from Bruce Davis and was wondering if anyone knows if the land rover dealer can detect this when servicing my car? Basically I have an extended warranty on the car taken out with another company affiliated to Land Rover but the policy will only be honored if I use a land rover dealer. No probs as it has paid for a new radiator, injectors, door catch, started moter etc - prior to remapped ECU being fitted -, so it has pretty much paid itself off.
My dilema is, I would like to still use the dealer for all oil changes and servicing - they're good and I still have warranty - but the warranty policy is void if the vehicle is modified. So after all that, will they notice the remapped ECU when generally serviceing the car, i.e. oil changes etc?

Hi MIck,

I have had the Bruce Davis Chip in my 2001 Defender since it was 12 months old and Land Rover has never said anything to me in that time. I also have the extended warranty and Land Rover asked me if I wanted to apply for it. I guess if they can tell they have never both to look or don't care.
