This is a very important WARNING for all who intend on getting a company to do any work on YOUR 4WD!
I have recently purchaseda Brand New "YES" Brand New GU Patrol 4.2TD.
I approached A WAS Reputable Company to find out about doing some serious mods to my brand new truck, in all i ended up spending like $14,000 with them only to find a half ass jobs was done. After picking up my car i found the following things wrong which i am still trying to rectify 3-4 weeks on(you can imagine how upset i was/am): My front tailshaft was sitting on the gearbox crossmembers, i had massive vibrations front and rear, front steering arm that they had made was too long so they just moved the steering wheel to straighten it up so then i only had 2 turns right and 3 turns left, and today i found that my front wheels bearings are loose after they didn't tighten them enought after putting a front air locker in.
So just wanted to let everyone know to be especially careful when choosing someone to work on your pride and joy. I thought i could have left it in their capable hands but obviously i was wrong.

I have edited your original post so No company has been named in this. As you Said. You just want everyone aware of what can happen. I dont want to be threatened with legal action just because you have an Axe to grind.I have also deleted your other post in the Nissan section. Wheel bearings set in after some driving, so they should have asked you back for a 500k check up, to make sure all was tight,
as for the front shaft hitting the cross member, you should have taken it back, the same goes for the steering arm, you have to expect to loose steering lock when you lift a patrol, as the angle of the steering arm is so high,
if the offered you a 500k check up, and you were being a dumb shit and wernt listening, case all you wanted to do is pay and go play, serves your self right,
also, if they didnt offer you a service, you should have gone and check evrything before you paid for it, to make sure it was at your standards, especially clearance of tail shafts and the likes,
before you come round baggin companies, have a long hard look at your self, evryone makes mistakes, sorry it happened to you, now take it back and ask them to fix it, if they dont, then have you rant and rave,
also, no need to post this in more than one section either.

See this is why threads like this get locked fast. I have allready deleted a post and edited a few others. Please guys keep it nice or i will lock it. 80gged has had a problem and he is entitled to comment on this. At least others may use this to make sure they dont get burnt in the future. And do a little more research before getting this sort of work done.

You might think so, but regardless - the CORRECT way to resolve any dissatisfaction is to firstly go back & calmly explain your grenievnces......

I tried resolving it with them but the owner thinks he is top shit and i cant do anything about that tosser, however i dont trust their workmanship so ill get others to fix it, just easier. The money isn't the major problem its the fact that it is a brand new car and when you get someone who has been doing these sort of things for soooo long you would think they would get it right...

Found it!! Hooray for the back icon!
Take it back to see if they will rectify all the problems.
If you no longer have any faith in the original shop then take it to another reputable company and have them go over the car.
Then re-approach the first one to rectify or respond to the problems found. If the problems persist, see in this order:
* Senior management
* MVRIC
* Dept of Fair Trading
But you must first give the original workshop the opportunity to answer your concerns.
They have been around for ages and should be eager to make sure their customers are not just happy, but ecstatic when they spend $14k in their shop.

i did read it, and if you read what i said you alway check the work you are payin for to make sure its up ro scratch, yes it is slack, i would have taken it straight back, and made some noise,
evryone i have delt with, if i had a prob i went back, and told em its not good enough, and it was fixed, its part of their job

I would say a repuatable company is a company that has a Reputation for good work and the Company you mentioned has many Franshises that have a very good reputation so i see no reason to Tar them all with the same brush.

If they only supplied the gear and you fitted it yourself then this would be true, but since they fitted it it is they problem at what ever price they gave you as they would have quoted the work for you and if they stuffed up and sold it all to cheap then its their problem not yours.80gged wrote:I took it back to those morons and all they could say is that they did me a great price and it isnt their problem.
If I was you I`d ring consumer affiars or department of fair trading but don`t meantion any company names, just find out where you stand and what they are meant to do. Then go back to the shop and tell them about the phone call you made and what they are meant to do. If still no joy then ring CA or DoFT back and then meantion names.
Things will then get done and fixed and if its the DOFT that has to step in and make them do it they get a bad mark next to their name for ever so if somebody else rings up and also complains about this company in the future they get looked at even closer and get a bigger arse kicking.
Job should be done right the first phucking time, in this industry you pay through the nose for a lot of stuff and thats fine, but deliver the quality in line with the price. I think you're entitled to be pissed, from what I have read you've been fairly reasonable and you deserve to get what you pay for and not have to solve the problems of every slack cant that doesn't do their job right!

indeed you would think a WELL KNOWN company would know their shit, but we had dramas, with a nissan dealer puttin twice the amount of required oil in the motor, if we didnt check we wouldnt have know,
it pays to check all work done one you pride and joy

I am going through a very expensive claim atm and this mob is the governor of any motor vehicle repairer and also a pet hate for dodgey businesses.
Give them a call and tell them your story, be sure that you have given the company sufficient chance to fix your vehicle though, they are allowed that opportunity by law.

If its a major franchise, and you're talking to a franchisee, approach head office for assistance. Don't attack head office - it's unlikely to be their fault. Remain cool and calm, explain your experience and the response you've received from the franchisee, and ask the head office for help. They might even ask for an opportunity to fix it themselves.
