XRCC Round 1
Just a few things. We are not at LMP first Round. We are at Emu Creek.
I have always informed Park staff of where the Comp areas are going to be. I cannot be held totally responsible for wrong info going out to the spectators (who make these events grow) after I have given them detailed information of where the event area is. As for tracks getting into an area, after all we do own 4wds don`t we.
It is a pity that we will not see some of the players out there playing even after they said they would still support the event, but not to worry the important people will be there, THE ENTRANTS who bothered to put in an entry.
As far as the bar being lifted, in regards to what?????????? Safety, vehicle damage or what. Please let me know!!!!!!
XRCC can say that the Courses that are made (could be to easy for a lot out there) do not get driven by officials first that turn out to be competitors latter.
Regardless of what I have just said, to all of the entrants with regards to what ever event they may have run in namely XRCC, PUSU, BOTC or in the future Werock, they are some of the best drivers & spotters (plus vehicles) that are on offer in Australia.
Congratulations guys.
Anyway hope to see you all at Round 1 Emu Creek.
Regards MMM
Dave what I was getting at with regards to the spectator side of things is that to help this sport grow we need spectators and this includes the average family with their 2.7 children. Mum and Dad do not want to damage their 100 series on the way down a track to watch the comp nore do they want to park 2.7kms away and have to lug 2.7 children and all the gear up or down a goats track to watch 1hr of the competition before the children start to piss and moan, mum gets the shits because she is in the sun sweating like a $2 whore in church and then Dad ends up getting the shits because he has to lug an esky full of beer (minus 2) back to the car again.
Having said that Dave I understand that in most cases, if you were to have a totally spectator freindly event it would mean a stadium and very expensive "man made course". You can see what I'm getting at though Dave. Do your best mate.
Cheers

sorry Dave - but as event organiser you are responsible for the smooth running of the event and it's a shame that you don't consider people finding the event to be a part of that.
your comments in relation to "we do own 4wd's don't we" don't really address the problem. a lot of joe public spectators don't particularly want to break / scratch their pride and joy getting to an event site... like it or not - it's something you need to deal with in order to grow the sport.
as for the bar being lifted - well Dave, I didn't see you at either puosu or botc so it's hard to know where to start explaining. i'd suggest you go back and have a read through the puosu thread to see what the spectators really liked about it.

Dave, its comments like this that make people step back and think "Why farken bother" I attended EVERY xrcc event since day one in fact if you go back threw every XRCC event held, 85% of the field was made up by most of the Guys that can not make it to this event. So now the ENTRANTS that have bothered putting in there entry form are the IMPORTANT PEOPLE, well what about the guys that supported every round since day one what are they????????? NOT IMPORTANT?????
I'll be there!
Obviously some of the guys are too scared to come out and play

xrcc
greg and dave took it out pete and myself came in 2nd need to build somthing smaller . gazza and scott had a brill event snappin rite at our heels on some off the courses,i think they took out the first and second on two off the courses, matt in the zook had a great weekend as did daomo in the blue 40 series , it was a very tight run on the first track with a lot tec drivin.the three other tracks were pretty open. was a good round
Another great XRCC!
Many thanks to Dave Metcalffe for putting on another enjoyable event.
Same goes to Emu Creek Extreme Retreat as it's a pleasure to be a park with grass at the camping grounds, great facilites as well as an enthusiastic park manager.
A quick rundown from my perspective.
The competition was fierce! I was running second at the end of Saturday behind Toymad who was driving very well. We had had a good day, but Toymad was just that little bit better!
Then come Sunday morning, running orders were changed to order of current placings which put Toymad up first and me second. Stage 3 (stages 1 & 2 were Sat) had a really tough climb at the 3rd gate. So much so, that we were getting the winch gear out in preparation. At 20 points for a winch out of a max 30, it was still better to take the winch and move on as opposed to breaking unnecessarily. Toymad broke his rear diff on (I think) his 3rd attempt. Then he winched up to go on to complete the remainder of the course in 3 wheel drive. I took to the winch after the 2nd attempt in an effort to conserve the vehicle and thus took the 20 point penalty before finishing the remainder of the course. After that, I think Humphy, ShortyMQ and Matt in the Zook went on to drive the gate unassisted. Fortunately, I managed to come out on top overall after the end of the 3rd stage.
With 1 stage left to go and Toymad out (due to broken diff) this put me onto the course first. After driving through the first gate, I took a wrong turn and moved towards the 3rd instead of 2nd gate. An official picked us up on it but we tried to reposition ouselfs without taking a reverse. This ended up puttin us in a position where we took out a cone. At that stage, I thought I'd lost it. The competition was that tight, that 1 cone could make or break your weekend! As it turned out most people hit the same cone nobody had a clean run for the entire course, which meant we could reatain our first position.
Damo, Humphy and Mat all had a great run up the toughest obsticle on the 4th stage. Mat even did it in one hit - he hardly even slowed!
So at the end of the weekend, I think everone took home a trophy. And Greg (1madengineer) and I took home 11 between us! 4 each for stage placings, 1 for overall and Greg again got the best spotters award - damn I make him look good!
So agian thanks to Dave and Emu Creek as well as the Toowoomba boys for putting us such close competion.
Looking forward to Round 2

Round 1 of XRCC was run at Emu Creek last weekend. I would like to thank the competitors for making it such a hassle free event and heaps of fun. First place with -5 points went to David (BB) & Greg in their Hilux (all the best at Tough Truck) 2nd with 17 points went to Craig (Humphry) & Peter in their Toyota buggy (very neat indeed) 3rd with 37 points went to Scott & Gary in their MQ Nissan (go the Nissans). Again many thanks to all for making this a great weekend.
