4.2 turbo 3" exhaust mod & blown 5th (warranty)

Post by 4by »

Had a 3" mandrel exhaust, from the turbo back, just fitted to my GU 4.2 turbo diesel.

The vehicle's performance is far superior. It has more power & uses less fuel. I can now go uphills without changing back a gear.

I will now get the turbo, fuel & injectors tweaked via the dyno.

If anyone is considering having the exhaust done, go for it.

yeah i had my exhaust done was so so....

best inprovement is boosting and thus allowing for more fuel at reduced EGT's

what your doing has been done by so many people already

mine details are on here somewhere am now running 100kw at rear wheels with 4.6 gears and 35" mtr's

EGT's = Exhaust Gas Temperatures. The lower the better. Any mods that make it go higher will shorten engine life

however boosting them and putting more fuel in them and making tuning the properly will also increase powere and reduce EGT's

so boosting a diesel isnt always bad

To add to the exhaust mod, I've just had the injectors removed cleaned and adjusted, blocked with poor spray pattern, had the fuel pump adjusted and turbo boosted a bit. Only done slightly not to sacrifice reliability.

Now the car performes far better although its hard to tell cause 5th gear blew this morning on the way there and I'm taking it easy till I get it fixed. Big Bummer....
