GU PATROL HELP

Post by 4by »

I'm considering purchasing another 4wd in a turbo diesel format and my first choice was the 100 series landcruiser turbo diesel. I've recently noticed that value for money the GU patrol 3.0 lit turbo diesel sells for approximately $15,000 less than the landcruiser. I can't justifty the extra cost for a 100 series especially as I intend to spend more money on modifications and extras.

I'm not very familular with diesel engines, and I'm sure that the patrol is an excellent vehicle. My concern is I once owned a GQ patrol and found that new spare parts were difficuly to find. As with Toyota's, there are several companies that sell competative priced parts like Don Kyatts. I couldn't find anywhere to purchase new parts for the patrol and had to purchase genuine parts which were expensive.

Does anyone know of any companies that sell aftermarket parts for the GU patrol in Melbourne, as I don't want to buy genuine should something go wrong.
Also how good are the GU 3.0 ltr turbo diesel patrols and is a diesel engine better that petrol when considering service, repairs, rebuilds and running costs.
Has anyone also experienced the dtronic chip upgrade for the 3.0 ltr td patrols?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

If you are after a new Patrol parts shouldn't be an issue as it will be covered under waranty should anything go wrong. I own a 4.2 TD which is 3 years old and havn't had many problems with it.

From my 30 Months of Owning a Patrol GU 3.0 i found this to be a bit of a hassle.

Nissan seem to carry little stock of parts and i often had to wait 7-14 days for a part to come from Japan,

I also was refused warranty on many occasions as mud caused the failure which is non-warranty due to not being a manufacturers fault.
