Price of Lightforce 240s

Post by Bog Stock Bj »

Okay so everyone has been saying how good these are, and reckon that outside the HID ones these are the lights to get, and I want some. BUT for a uni student, a pair of these costs big $$$. What are the prices that people have paid from them? Or does anybody know what the best price for them atm is?

RRP is $415 for a pair
acording to the 4wd monthly accessory directory
just shows how much mark up must get put on if people can aford to sell them at $320

Cheers for that. They are in the ball park of what I have heard elsewhere. And just to clarify, are they as good as everybody makes out?

No, everyone is paid by lightforce to say they like them.

Ask Guts what they are like, for the Simex 24hr I put my HID's and a set of 170's on his roof and we thought we were day driving. :D
Also ask Moose about it as he was in front of us most of the time and has burn marks on the back of his head. :finger:

Guts has IPF's on his front bar and they looked like yellow candles compared to the Lightforce lights. :D

Sorry to go against popular opinion but we also had a set of HIDs on our vehicle in the Simex Pursuit and i found them rather unsuited to that sort of driving.
They seemed to need a lot of distance to open out into a decent wide beam so they didnt impress me in the closed in type bush that we were in for this event.
Obviously they are bloody impressive in open road situations where they have distance to spread out but i feel they may need a filter specially designed for close in use.
We also may have been going a tad faster than the Cheezy/Gutz/Moose crew so we might not have had time to focus on everything properly.

My HID's also have spacers in them that throw a wider light than standard, I also agree that in standard form they are to pencily, but after the spacer inst Its heeps better.

So does this spacer thingy move the filament( or what ever they call it )forward inside the light or what, is this a spare part or a "Cheezy-only" modification???

Juzza I to thought that about the HIDs at first, that was untill I turned them off and had only my higbeams and the IPF`s on which then looked like I only had my low beams on.

Yes their was a VERY white dot in front of us with the HIDS on but everything around that for 180 degs was also very white and more then well lit up.

but even the LF 170`s are WAY better then my square IPF`s which are the 800 or 900 range I think. Once I have the dollars for some lightforce lights for the hilux the IPF`s will either get sold or put under my lux as rock lights.

how do the halogen lightforce (the medium or large size) compare to hella 4000s? (I know HID is the way to go but Ill wait till they become affordable)
I have 3 hella 1000FFs at the moment and Im not real happy with them.
Im thinking of swapping to 2 hella 4000s or 2 lightforce.

the hella 1000FF have this crappy plastic bracket at the base that isnt strong enough to hold the light and the lights vibrates like sh!t on corrugated roads and you dont want to know how much hella charges for a new crappy plastic bracket  .

my 4000's are about twice as good as my 1000's were.
I dont have stays on them and they still dont vibrate.
just make sure you add a little dob of silicon on the screws as mine came loose at cape york but i dont know if they were tight before i left home.
I tightened them up and they were ok for the rest of the trip.
my other set of 4000's didn't come loose on a recent simpson trip so maybe the first set were already loose.
