maybe the square is a later 12v one and yours may be a 24v one......it may not be but just a heads up.......

I would was it out with metho or the like and ensure it were sealed properly.............

Failing that remove it completly and install the old faith hand kill like in most old trucks. When you want to stop the Patrol pull the kill switch.

With the 12V and 24V motors, I stripped one of each down to make a good one all the parts inside appear to be identical except for the plug on the end.

Turns out one of the wiper contacts on the circuit board in the 12V one had gone, soldered the board from the 24V one in its place, it works so all good!

Before the edic motor died the donk was taking a really long time to turn off

Adjust the cable properly. It isnt pulling the lever into the stop position correctly. If you disconnect the cable and move the lever manually does it stop straight away??

Cheers

is the cable you are talking about go from the motor towards the back of the pump and curl around up to the top if it is mine does not have one like that i looked in the manual to see this cable which it has but mine has a rod connected to the motor about 10 cms long up to another fitting which iam unsure what it does

Make sure that the rod is pulling the lever all the way to the stop. Another thing to try is disconnect the rod and move the lever. This should stop the engine. If not the problem may be inside the pump.
