fuel system, what goes where????

Post by Elmo »

trying to get my fuel system sorted, so i can get my truck moving under its own power for the first time

all thats left is to connect the fuel lines to the pump, easy enough, but im confused, theres 4 lines in total, 2 coming from the motor and 2 coming from the tank, but only 3 connections on the pump

now 1 is already connected, which was easy cause it was the only one that would fit as it was bigger than the rest, its one of the ones from the motor and fits on the right hand side of the pump

the other 2 connections on the pump (as you look from the front) are on the left side, and also 1 underneath

do you know where they go???

please help as i dont have a manual and am doing this all off guess work

One goes to your fuel tank and so does the other. Except one is your return line and the other is you pick up.

If you pull the seder out of the tank you will see one of them goes to the bottom of the tank and the other finishes at the top.

As for which is what I don't know, try cranking it over and putting your fingers over the outlets on the pump, the one that sucks is your pick up and the other the return. The second one off the engine I'm not sure about but recon it would be a return too.

This is a diesel isn't it?

Just guessing but doesn't one have to go to a charcoal box or something (breather?). Just thought it might jog someones memory becasue I have no idea. I just thought i read that somewhere. Dont you have a shop manual elmo? They make life a piece of piss ;) ....well a little easier than impossible anyway.
