flat spot on 2f
hi all was hoping for some advice.my 2f has a flat spot at about 1300rpm.it is very bad when cold and not so bad once warmed up.unfortunately it happens just as you enter the intersection etc and while i am aware and an cope with it the girlfriend stalls it and shits herself lol
there are a lot of things that can cause flat spots on that motor. manifold cracks or leaks at the head - spray wd40 around where the inlet manifold bolts to the head to see if the revs change - indicates leaks.
vacuum hose leaks - if it's from the early '80s it will have a million emission control hoses, if any of them leak you will havbe a lean condition which can cause a flat spot.
EGR not functioning properly
carby accellerator pump jammed/worn
carby throttle shaft bores worn
I reckon you have a vacuum leak somewhere - either a crack or warpage of the manifold, or a broken hose somewhere.
