You should keep it and take it to the pub with you. Then when the beer wont flow into your mouth you can check and see if you've fallen over

Your passenger is usually a good indicator, well before rolling.
You can roll a car without the guage too.

I had one in a nissan nivara, it came standard. found it of no use at allcos by the time i stop concerning myself with actually controling the truck, the meter is already showing level again (or a more comfortable angle at least) Further more if you roll its not going to stop for you to show the point of no return.
Save your money.(S@#T what am i saying) Spend the money more wisely on a snatch strap or a temp/oil pressure guage.
A mate just came in reading overmy shoulder said "hang a weighted string from the mirror works well"
HA ha if it coils up on the roof you went to far LOL

Got one from a wrecker for a Toyota surf. Same colour as my dash and look factory (Patrol) Also included altitude meter!
Overall pretty useless though, but I am going to use it to house my new fuel gauge (rip out the altimeter)
I thought it would be useful to record how far I can tip the car and amuse myself by seeing how far I can go, without rolling.

Flat area at the bottom of the garbage bin?
Seriously they aren't a useful tool for offroading.
If you're really that interested you'll probably flop it trying to see how far you can take it....or you'll flop it becasue your too busy watching it not the track
Or hang it plumb style from the rear vision mirror so then at least they will work properly

That's why when you get close you hold a nikko pen in your hand and as you feel the wheels leave the ground you mark the tiltmeter just as it's going over for future reference.

You can get the one that does side only from any marine place....whitwoths marine have an online store, or mail order catalouge.
Thinking about getting one, but the only time I have been in that situation, the pucker factor tells me and I don't have time / guts to look at some bloody tilt gauge on the dash
Hmm got tips at menia on the weekend, and I seem to remember looking straight ahead with eyes
