Free Wheeling Hub interchangeability

Post by Tojo »

I have a 40 series with Warn freewheeling hubs. I had a 60 series housing with Aisin freewheeling hubs and wanted to put them on the 40 series as one of the Warn ones is u/s. Problem is when i go to do the bolts up on the mechanism the hub binds and apears to bottom out. Are they interchangeable?

the cv joint changed in 1979 .
cv's from 1979 to 1/1990 where the same but pre 1979 cv's were longer
approx 10mm ? .
this is the main difference between the years ....

late model cv's will fit in pre 1979 l/cruisers (cv's 1979 - 1990)
9/75 to 1/79 are the same cv joints ....

i hope this has helped u .
if u need any more info . just ask .

that helps a lot. What i did was replace my axles + cv's with some older ones i had from an older model 40 (after i broke one) and did not realise that they were longer. I think i have a spare warn hub somewhere so will try fitting them and see if it all works. Thanks for the info.
