lpg again

Post by dwaynes »

alright lpg gurus on my dash is a three way switch wich is marked lpg (top) nothing ( centre ) and fuel ( bottom ) alright this is rocket science

now there is also a lever that is marked push for lpg and pul for fuel
what is this for as i can leave it pushed in for both lpg and fuel with no issues ( i think ) but if i pull while on lpg it runs like a dog so my question is what the hell is this lever for.

Buggered if I know!

Get someone to push and pull the lever while your looking under the bonnet, and see what it moves. It may be a primer to aid starting on lpg, other than that I'm not sure. Work out what moves, then post back!

Cheers, Dean

It sounds like you have an "Impco" style of kit.
To get LPG to draw into the engine a restriction is placed in the inlet tract before the Venturi/Throttle Plate. This restriction increases petrol usage when on petrol.
The setup you have has a venturi before the carb which can be opened by cable to reduce restriction when running on petrol.

spot on calll ...... this is usually seen on small capacity motors that did not have sufficient vacume to lift the plate.... the idea was to lift the plate so a better fuel ecconomey could be achived when on petrol.

its also from an "older era"....rarely used or seen these days except on old lpg systems
