Confusion over fuel filter & water trap in TFS Rodeo Die

Post by rainsey »

Folks,

Ive spent hours looking over the CD based workshop manual for my truck and I am still bloody confused. I have a standard cartridge fuel filter
See post http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modul ... hp?t=33895 for a picy
and the water trap... now here is where I become blond..

The workshop manual does not show the cartridge fuel filter but a filter in the water trap housing. Looking at various diesel service manuals they show the same looking device with the plunger on top, water trap below, with a filter in the middle.

So can anyone else out there with a 98 TF 2.8 Diesel tell me if all this time I have one filter or two?? Is there in fact a filter in the unit that has the water trap??

Cheers

Ahhhhhhhh....

I am so confused........ :?:

Does this mean that there is no filter in the water trap and a secondary fuel filter is the norm???

So.. should I be pulling apart my water separater periodicly so I find no genetically mutated bits and pieces in it ?????

As Dr Smith used to say.. Oh the pain......

If I wasn't an alchohoc already this issue would drive me to drink! Lucky I do not drink when I drive!!

Cheers

well to you and I it's normal anyway  I think my water trap had at least a dozen new kinds of lifeforms that fed on hydrocarbons...... it was nasty LOL
